We will be heading up to the Whites to do the famous Pemi Loop over 3 Days of the Memorial Day weekend. We will be camping 2 nights at ~4,000 feet elevation, and hiking in the wilderness for 3 days. You are in to watch 2 sunrises and 2 sunsets on some the highest peaks in the New England! It will be a blast!
This is a very challenging backpacking trip as it involves >30 miles of hiking and ~8,000ft of elevation gain. You need to have prior overnight hiking, camping or backpacking experience.
We will have a mandatory pretrip meeting on 5/23 at ~6pm at the MITOC office.
Itinerary:
Saturday (7 mile), ~8am leave Boston - 11am, start hiking from Lincoln Woods parking lot - 4pm, reach Liberty spring tentsite, setup camp
Sunday (12 mile), - 6am, wake up, breakfast, break camp - 8am, start hiking, - 5pm, reach Guyot tentsite, setup camp
Monday (12 mile), - 6am, wake up, breakfast, break camp - 8am, start hiking, - 6pm, finish hike Lincoln Woods parking lot - 6:30pm, drive back to Boston
We will need microspikes for the remaining snow and warm clothes/sleeping bags for the cold nights we will face at higher altitudes. Prior winter hiking experience will be very helpful.
