Prerequisites
Comfortable hiking 8 miles in the summer, experience of layering and microspikes

Comfortable hiking 8 miles or so in the summer and some experience of layering. Experience with or excited about using microspikes.

We'll be heading up into the Presidential Range of the White Mountains! Mt. Jackson (4052') is the shortest and southernmost four thousand footer on the Presidential ridge. We will start at the AMC Highland Center and then head to Mt. Jackson and over to Mt. Webster. The hike has a total elevation gain of about 2800' and 5.6 miles.

We will focus on using a compass and map to learn how to distinguish between mountains that you can see from the top of Jackson and Webster. If you're interested, have a play around with this caltopo map to get a sense of where we'll be hiking and the surrounding area: https://caltopo.com/m/L2NU

Note: There is a severe snowstorm forecast for Saturday night. If the forecast changes and the snowstorm moves earlier in the day, we may need to alter our plans to a more local hike. We will make a decision about this on Thursday or Friday.
