Trip date

Difficulty rating
Medium/hard
Prerequisites
This should not be your first winter school trip. Previous above-treeline experience recommended, but not essential.

Join Nathan and John for a different approach to this classic above-treeline hike.

We'll get a relaxed start on Saturday, and hike approximately four miles to the Liberty Springs campsite. We'll make an early dinner and hopefully catch the sunset from the top of Mount Liberty. Then we'll wake up early on Sunday and take advantage of the (hopefully) clear weather to hike the famous Franconia Ridge trail (which is above treeline for about a mile and a half) under a nearly full moon. If we time it right, we may even catch the sunrise from Mount Lafayette.

We should get back to Boston relatively early, so you can still make your Superbowl party.
