Hi everyone,

Do you want to learn to whitewater kayak? Now's your chance! Join some MITOC paddle leaders on the Pemigewasset river in New Hampshire and learn the basics of river reading and river running.

This is an introductory trip and no experience is necessary. It is important that you are comfortable in the water and know how to swim, however. I promise you will get wet :)

We will have a planning meeting on Wednesday night May 30th at 7pm in the MITOC boathouse (behind the MIT museum) to select gear and prepare everything. On Thursday May 31st at 6pm we will take a trip to Spy pond in Arlington to learn basic boating skills for the whitewater part of the trip. We will reconvene at the boathouse at 7am on Saturday June 2 to drive to a class II river in New Hampshire and we will return in evening. Please only sign up if you can commit to the gear selection meeting on Wednesday and the pond session on Thursday -- these should be considered mandatory parts of this trip!

This will be a lottery drawing for spots on the trip. If you don't make it, don't despair! We are planing on having lots of trips this summer.

Let me know if you have a car with roof racks. We need at least one more car to make this all work.

Trip cost will be $30, equal to boat rental for 2 days

Email me if you have any questions (ajrieth@mit.edu)

See you on the river, Bo and Adam
