Details
Learning to trad climb can be a daunting task. Many climbers say, "to learn to place gear you gotta see a lot of placements!" Well, one great way to do that is to follow a lot of climbs!
Oh but sadly no one wants to feel like a bother for their climbing partner leading all of those pitches :( How can you find climbing partners willing to lead all of those beautiful pitches if you can't lead and just follow?
The answer: Be a great follower! Being a good follow makes you an asset to a climbing duo and many trad leaders are looking for fun and competent followers to climb with.
Goals
In this TRS we will talk about the skills and equipment you need in order to become an asset to a climbing duo as a follower even if you don't lead any pitches.
Required Skills
While we will not turn anyone away from this TRS, it not suited well to a new climber. Folks who climb regularly in the gym our outside and either lead sport or top-rope in the 10s are a great fit. These are loose guidelines though so don't shy away from this course if you fall a bit outside of that.
Required Gear
None. If you have a harness, cordelette, and lockers they might be worth bringing.
