- Prerequisites
- Must be very confident with crampons and ice axes. Must have multiple above treeline trips under your belt preferably this year in Winter School.
We'll be attempting to summit Mt. Washington via Lions Head Winter Route. It will be 7 miles round trip with about 4300' of elevation gain. Lions Head is one of the more technical hiking trail up to the summit of Washington and we're expected sub-zero temps and high winds. It will include a steep section of around 1000' of gain over a half mile. Being comfortable with crampons and ice axes is a must!
Our backup plan if it's too cold and/or windy is to climb to the top of Lions Head and then come back down to the base and go check out the debris field in Tuckerman Ravine.
