We'll make a decidedly civilized, un-alpine start from a trailhead in the Blue Hills (exact location a civil secret) from which our search party will depart on an expedition covering 3 or 4 miles and ascending about 1000 or so cumulative vertical feet. Our mission will be to uncover the elements of winter which have, to date, been so expertly concealed. Undeterred by the lack of visible ice or snow, we will engage in the fine winter arts of layering and de-layering, and indulge heavily in the triangle of happiness (eat, drink, pee). If we are lucky, the weather might cooperatively add a little drama to our day.

The adventure will be on the leisurely side, but with enough physical challenge to make it interesting. In addition to the usual break for lunch, we'll plan to fire up the stove and make some warm beverages to accompany the diverse and creative snacks we'll bring to share.

Given the secretive behavior of this year's winter, as long as you have your own suitable footwear, it is likely that joining this trip may not require any rental gear. During this civilized undertaking, formal dress is optional.
