We are kicking-off the second weekend of Winter School with a White Mountain Classic: Franconia Ridge!
Expect a long day with miles above treeline, amazing views and frozen waterfalls. We will drive up early Saturday morning to hike up the Falling Waters, summit Mt. Lincoln and Mt. Lafayette and make our way down via the Old Bridal Path. This will total to an intense hike of 9 miles and almost 4,000 ft elevation gain. Because there will be so much above treeline travel, you must be extremely comfortable with your winter layering and with walking with traction to sign up.
Note: There were some trip reports from last weekend saying that a stream crossing on the Falling Waters trail is impassible. We will be monitoring conditions during the week. If we don't think we will be able to get up Falling Waters we will do an out and back hike to Lafayette then Lincoln from Old Bridle path (9.2 mi round trip). It will be beautiful either way.
