8.2 miles 4000 ft elevation gain
Come experience one of the most spectacular and (deservedly) popular hikes in the Whites without the crowds in the winter.
We'll hike up Falling Waters trail to Little Haystack Mountain then take the ridge trail to Mount Lincoln (5089') and Lafayette (4724'). We will descent down on the Greenleaf trail and Old Bridle path.
There will be almost three miles of above treeline travel over an exposed ridge with 360 views of the Pemigewassett wilderness.
Because there will be so much above treeline travel, you must be extremely comfortable with your winter layering and with walking with traction to sign up. This should probably also not be your first time above treeline.
Note: There were some trip reports from last weekend saying that a stream crossing on the Falling Waters trail is impassible. We will be monitoring conditions during the week. If we don't think we will be able to get up Falling Waters we will do an out and back hike to Lafayette then Lincoln from Old Bridle path (9.2 mi round trip). It will be beautiful either way.
