Previous above treeline travel in the winter

Join Neil and Sally for a awesome traverse of Franconia Ridge! It'll be a tough day with us covering 15 km with 1200 m elevation gain (9 miles with 4,000 feet of elevation gain) and we'll be above treeline for almost 5 km (3 miles). This means that you must be in great physical shape and have your gear figured out! We'll be starting early (meeting at the trailhead at 7:45), but you can stay at Camelot Saturday night with your fabulous leaders if you don't want to leave Boston super duper early.

Franconia Ridge is one of my favorite hikes in the Whites and it's a loop which is always better. We'll hike up Old Bridle Path to the Greenleaf Hut, where we'll hit treeline. From there, we'll hike another mile up steep, rugged terrain to Mount Lafayette (5429'), then over to Mount Lincoln (5089') and Little Haystack (4724').We'll descend via Falling Waters Trail.
