(Get it? Liber-tea Party? Ha! Expect even more amazing jokes and fun if you come on this awesome above-treeline trip!)
We'll be heading to Mt Liberty (4,459') via the Liberty Springs trail. The summit of Liberty is above treeline, so we'll hopefully get some beautiful views, as well as some fun above-treeline practice. The hike to Liberty is a round trip of 8.2 miles and 3250' of elevation gain. If folks are feeling chipper, we can add a detour across the ridge to adjacent Mt. Flume (4,328'), for a total trip of 10.6 miles and 4250' of elevation gain.
On the way home, you'll have the option of sledding down the Liberty Springs trail for even more fun. Don't forget your favorite tea or cocoa to warm up after sledding - plus your best teacup!
This trip is relatively long with a significant amount of elevation gain, and we'll be practicing new - above-treeline skills. Participants should be in good shape, and have have some prior winter hiking experience. (Above-treeline experience is not necessary).
