Mt. Pierce is a moderate hike that gets some great views at the top (and a taste of what it is like above tree-line). On a clear day you can see Mt. Eisenhower and Mt. Washington along the presidential ridge. At 4300ft tall, Pierce will give you a good idea of what the White Mountains are like in the winter. This will be a good chance to try out winter hiking, play with your layering system, and get used to being outdoors in the cold.
The round trip is 6.4 miles so we should comfortably finish before dark. Due to the recent warm and then cold weather, sections may be icy, so you may need microspikes for traction.
