Up to 4.2 miles one way, 2700' vertical Change of plans! Because of inadequate snow at Doublehead, we are going to ski at Moosilauke instead! We're going to skin up the Carriage Road potentially all the way to the South Peak of Moosilauke, or to where the snow is no longer good, then ski down the same trail. The trail is about 15' wide in most parts, allowing you to "swoop several miles of leisurely turns" according to Goodman's backcountry skiing guide. The terrain is intermediate-advanced, and the trail is shared with hikers who often enjoy sledding down. A fun historical tidbit: The Moosilauke Carriage Road held the first organized ski race in the US, way back in 1927! Pre-trip meeting will take place at 6:30 Thursday in the MITOC office.

Do you have any previous backcountry skiing experience? Do you have any gear or do you need to rent everything? Would you be willing to try telemark skiing if we don't have enough AT equipment?
