Come join us for a fun hike on Sunday!

The Welch and Dickey loop is a modest effort hike with high rewards. At 4.5 miles and only 1800 feet total vertical gain, this would be considered an easy hike. However, some steep sections over slab granite make it more challenging, and much more interesting, than the stats would suggest. You should be in reasonably decent physical shape if you want to find the hike enjoyable.

On a clear day, Mt. Monadnock is visible from the summit of Welch. Even though the summits are well below tree-line, they are exposed to the winds. Be sure to plan on a way to cover your face on the tops. A long scarf is an acceptable option on this hike. Depending on trail reports, we'll likely need snowshoes, microspikes, or crampons toclaw our way up the steeps.

Difficulty: Easy Distance: 4.4 miles round-trip Elevation Gain: 1,800 feet
