We all have moats. Maybe it's a fear of heights. Maybe it's a refusal to connect with people who didn't read Harry Potter. Maybe it's full of laser sharks.

Whatever it may be, come conquer your moat with us! We will be taking a hike of the Moat Mountains and Red Ridge near North Conway, hitting up a significant portion of above treeline travel, taking in a whopping 9 'stars' (viewpoints, for reference the franconia ridge loop only has 7), and exploring a lesser trafficked area of the whites, all without going above 2805ft!

There is a possibility that we will do this as a thruhike/traverse, but as of now we are planning to do an awesome out and back, which will maximize our time in the wonderland above treeline! This trip will be a total of 10-12 miles, including some short portions of scrambling and/or steep snow. We will gain only ~1500 ft, but with almost 2 miles of total above treeline travel. Snow traction and either poles/axe are required, and you should have experience winter hiking and have full face coverage (goggles, balaclava, etc.). Although this trip will involve less vertical ascent than many other above the treeline trips, it will have significant and prolonged exposure. This is a great trip for people looking to get significant and challenging experience above treeline without committing to one of the larger peaks.
