Prerequisites
Must have full face covering including goggles. Have successfully been on a WS hike before. Good physical condition.

Join us for a nice 10-mile saunter on Mt. Moosilauke up the Carriage Road and then some above treeline fun. For 5-ish miles, you get a nice steady hike up one of the most popular mountains in the Whites. Then, you poke above treeline for nearly a mile along an exposed ridge, which just so happens to coincide with the Appalachian Trail. While you're at it, tag 4802' Moosilauke and add it to your 4000-footers list! If the visibility elves are beneficent, enjoy a view which is regarded as one of the best in the Whites.

Once we're satisfied with our above-treeline experience, we will go back down the Carriage Road with the help of gravity and some sleds. The Carriage Road is a wide trail that makes sledding down especially fun. We'll get an early start to make sure we don't hit our turnaround time.

It appears that there will be enough XC-skis available for rent this weekend. If that holds, we'll plan to ski in/out along the bottom two miles or so which have a gentle slope. No prior XC experience required.

In summary: 10.8 miles round trip, 2100 feet of elevation gain, above treeline, skis, snowshoes, and sleds.
