This trip will be an introduction to the chillier side of winter hiking! Mount Israel is one of New Hampshire's 52 with a view, and we should be able to see Squam Lake as well as some of the taller mountains in the Sandwich Range from the top.
This will be a minimum 4 mile hike with 1700 ft of elevation gain. If we finish early and everyone's feeling up for it, we can venture an additional mile over to Beede Falls and Cow Cave - who knows what adventures await us there! Caltopo map
It may be very cold on Monday - we'll need to pay close attention to layering and staying warm. Our mandatory pre trip meeting will be at 6pm on Thursday, January 11 in the common area of the 4th floor of the Student Center (same floor as the MITOC office).
Drivers are especially needed for this trip - if you can drive your own car or are willing to rent, edit the “Lottery preferences” on your MITOC profile to show this. Participants will evenly split car costs.

- On a scale of 1 to 5, how psyched are you for being outside when it's 16°F or below?
- What's your favorite thing about winter?
